The Olive Writers is a literary arts association based in Casablanca, Morocco. Founded in 2016, the Olive Writers is a growing community of writers, literary advocates, and leaders. Not only did our students grow as thinkers and writers, but they also formed a vibrant creative community, which continues to provide them with a source of support and encouragement even years after programs have drawn to a close.
The Summer Camp, our flagship program, co-organized with the American Language Center Casablanca, provides a week-long writing retreat for Moroccan writers between the ages of 16-25. Participants attend a daily bilingual (Arabic/English) creative writing workshop, as well as seminars on Arabic and American literature and lectures by leading writers, translators and publishers. During the camp, participants will draft, revise and refine a creative project that will be published by The Olive Writers as an e-book anthology.
